Florida Governor DeSantis is expected to become one of Trump’s biggest contenders for the party’s nomination next year.
When he stopped at a golf course in Virginia for a quick conversation about his former ally this week, the former president doubled on the title he gave to the governor for months.
DeSantis is “not loyal”, he said.
When asked which of the two had better golf, the answer was unequivocal — “me,” he said, after noticing that his strikes were “great” that day.
Trump and DeSantis have publicly supported each other for years, and DeSantis was one of the first influential politicians to support Trump’s false claims of voter fraud during the 2020 election.
But Florida’s governor is increasingly becoming a household name in the US.
De Santis officially announced his intention to run on Twitter in 2024 this week, with Elon Musk, during a live discussion.
Trump told the News Nation when asked about DeSantis’ online advertising, which faced several technical errors.
Although the news did not surprise, the announcement would allow DeSantis to begin his fundraising efforts and put his plans into the election campaign.
